Many, many uk2's ago, Django wrote up a comprehensive arti scoring system. It was less of a 'blanket score' and was more catered to actual alliance benefit. For example, a small academic isn't graded the same as a small confusion. On that basis I have decided to revive the State of the Artefacts Analysis that Django started, using his scoring techniques and catering them to current uk2. Original post here.
I will point out that after several uses, this scoring system has received considerable criticism. I'd like to point out it's by no means perfect and how an alliances uses an artefact is arguably more important than how many they have or what their score is. Nevertheless, the scoring is based on how valuable you perceive the artefacts. If certain artefacts have become more valuable since 2013 then please do discuss it and we can look at making adjustments.
"For the purposes of this analysis I have devised a point system allocating points to each specific artefact according to how valuable it is for the alliance as a whole to win endgame mainly. It’s a purely subjective judgement that others may disagree with but my reasons are as follows:
5 points:
The Master Diet - This artefact is in a League of its own in T4. It is accepted wisdom that this artefact is the most valuable in winning endgame by far. The ½ crop consumption for the WW village allows bigger defences than other competing WW villages.
4 points:
Unique Fool – A lot of people swear by this artefact and believe it is the best as it gives all the good things from the others. You can queue troops when the ½ build time effect is on and when the haste effect is on you can hit your enemies long distance etc.
Unique Confusion – As enemies cannot target your TC it allows you to store building plans and small artefacts with some degree of safety. It also makes it hard to chief non-cap hammers.
Unique Academic – Reduces build time in all barracks, stables and workshop by half and you can also build a secret WWk with this arti.
Unique Scout – Perfect for Scouting WW villages
Unique Architects – The grand ole WW artefact of T3.6. In the past it was considered useful as it strengthened the wall against rammers. In T4 it takes a very close second place after the Master Diet in terms of usefulness for endgame.
Unique Haste – X2 speed =Can strike anywhere, anytime – good for killing WWks in the night.
3 points:
Large Haste - Can strike most places quickly, good for killing WWK's in the night.
Large Diet: - A good WW arti to hold if you cannot get the Master Diet
Large Academic - Reduces build time in all barracks, stables and workshop by 25% and you can also build a secret WWK with this arti.
Large Scout – Good for Scouting WW villages
Large Storage – Can be shared amongst the alliance by letting the village it is in be chiefed – will allow several WWK builders to build level 18/19 cropfields in their cap to feed large troop numbers
2 points:
Large Architects – Strengthens walls and buildings against attacks but not as much as the Unique architects. Has limited value to a WW holder.
Large Confusion – Allows you to have huge crannies but it doesn’t offer the protection for plans and small artifacts that the unique has as the Treasure Chamber CAN be targeted.
Small Diet – Good for an off player or a WWK builder
Small Academic – Good for a WWK builder and can be shared amongst alliance
Small Storage – Good for a WWK builder and can be shared amongst alliance
Small Scout – Good for scouting WWs and WWK builders
Small Haste – Good for attacking and raiding
1 point:
Small Fool – Has negative effect as well as positive – makes it hard to plan ahead
Small Architect – Makes buildings stronger in one village, cannot be used in WW village.
Small confusion – Allows huge crannies in one village but Treasure Chamber can be targeted."
