Christmas Alliance Summary/Thoughts/Teams

With ceasefire upon us and the server now 50 days in I feel its time for some quick summery tables of the main alliances within the top 20.

NE Teams

OGC + OGC. - Clear leaders in the NE, OGC have maintained a high position all round in the top 10 raiders and have maintained strong attackers throughout the round. Both main alliance and wing alliance display little difference in simming ability or average off points showing that the grouping of players has been completed successfully. There is nothing worse than seeing teams run a strong main alliance while running a wing of farms, but OGC have managed to avoid this allowing them to become the most established team on the server.
However, while OGC look good they have yet to be tested. Opposition attacks have yet to be seen and their defence ranks are low. With most of the focus currently being on early game simming I can’t help wonder if they lack in the defence department.
With the split between members in the bonnies and those who have remained central, a well organised team could cause problems for OGC.

TWD - This team is mainly located to the east of the quad with a few loners close to the north equator. Average attack points for this team is respectable but the defence points are again low signifying they have yet to be tested. Having conquered a village from OGC they clearly are not afraid of repercussions which could be a sign of some mid round excitement between them and OGC. The core team to the east have potential to band together and cause problems in their area but only if the leadership performs well.
The members on the northern equator I predict will either be forced to leave as farms/cheif targets, or change teams for self preservation. Unless the team recruits more across the whole quad the gap between the N members and E members is too far for defensive purposes.

AotA - This team started off as a group that could contend in NE (I’m being kind), but now they are my definition of ‘easy pickings’. While their average attack points are high, the alliance is going through a span of deletions and alliance hoppers spelling a possible downfall. While I haven’t had any contact with the leaders, I don’t feel they have any strong personalities that could allow the team to recover.

Vanguard - The breakaways of OGC. With only 5 members I don’t see them as a threat to the foundations of OGC, but after seeing some of the reports where they dominated the OGC player in their area of the boonies they do have the troop numbers to cause small scale problems. With average defence points of 16 there has yet to be any action taken against them, but I can see them starting to have fun and throw around some small armies at OGC later on in the round.

Str N - I’ve made note of this team to let you know they existed. With members scattered all over the place they soon failed as an alliance with the majority of the members joining TRA. They still exist in the strange web of SL18’s CPs and NAPs which I will get onto later.

TRA + TRA2— Another one that exists in SL18’s web of CPs and Naps which I again, will get onto later. To talk about TRA I feel I should use OGC as a guideline. I feel that if OGC is how you should do an alliance and wing, TRA is how you shouldn’t. TRA have members in both the NE and the NW. TRA-2 have members in the NE and the SE. Average population is a village lower than the other major teams while the average attack points can be considered passable, they aren’t high. From the average defence points they are clearly having problems and I feel this can be something that has caused their simming ability to be lacking.

SW Teams

WL + Lo®ds - Taking the majority of the SW is Warlords and newly returned alliance Lo®ds. Both teams show strong attack points and while the average population of Lo®ds is relatively low, being a new alliance they can be forgiven. Both teams have yet to be tested defence wise and with a total of only 80 members between them I can’t help but ask where are the rest of the SW players? Early indications are that this quad is extremely weak and that worries me.
With no opposition to upset them WL and Lo®ds will be able to sim up massive armies with ease while dominating the trash of the quad.
In the table below I have also included NW alliance 2G1C. This is due to confederation pact with WL making a dangerous combination of three alliances that could cause problems come endgame with coordinated cross-quad attacks.

SPQR - I’ve made a note of this team simply so you can all know they existed. They still exist in the strange web of SL18’s CPs and NAPs which I will get onto later. This team used to have a good group amount them but they all left to join Lo®ds. Bye bye SPQR.

SE Teams

SL18 + SL18 II + (TRA 2) - To talk about the SE we can’t help but talk about SL18. They are clearly a strong team and given the results of the -C- & SL18 battles they have proven themselves to work well together. The average attack points are passable and the defence points are superb. If I went by all this, I’d rate them as one of the top teams on the server. But then you look at their CPs and NAPs.
With SL18 + SL18 II + TRA + TRA-2 + STR N + SPQR + win all being connected (SL18 to TRA-2 and TRA-2 to the others) it makes you wonder where SL18 draw the line to TRA-2’s NAPs and CPs. To me, it looks messy. I also fail to understand the relationship between TRA and TRA-2. Surely if SL18 and TRA-2 are confeds, SL18 and TRA will be confeds?!
Next we the the -C- war. Looking at the almost destroyed -C- most of their members show up as jumping ship to SL18 II who have walked all over them. While I haven’t had contact with any of these players I can’t help but wonder if they jumped ship due to bad leadership or due to a lack of back bone after being walked over by SL18. Whatever the cause it does make me think they’ve only added these people to flesh themselves out. Kind of the like the weird Confed decisions, are they just looking for endgame defence/wheat feeders or are they actually going to be teams they work with?

NW Teams

Olympia - The NW quad is how travian used to be back in the day. O.k, so with only 2 main teams I’ll admit thats a far stretch but its better than the competition we see in the other quads. Olympia kick off the teams as the pre-organised Russians. Top attackers, decent simmers, strong in defence. They are exactly as you’d expect them to be > dangerous. While there has yet to be the ‘wow’ factor you thought there would be in the pre round hype, their stats show a very strong, well rounded team that are going to be endgame contenders. The only issue I see them having is a lack of members.

Invictus + Invictu5 - From a distance, Invictus look good with well rounded stats again, although they are only average stats compared to the major teams. With a total of 83 members they have the needed members to cause problems for Olympia, but look at it from the opposite angle and you can see a good stepping stone for Olympia to steal resources. Given that the main Invictus alliance are barely in the top 10 raiders and and the significantly lower defence points between the main and wing alliance it makes me think the latter angle is more likely. Am I wrong to think Invictus are an established team that play on the slow servers often? If they are maybe the leadership will be able to cause problems for Olympia.

IGH. - IGH. have an embarrassing number of deletions in their gettertools former members list. Although the attack and defence points look pretty good for a team with a small amount of members and small average population, losing 6 ‘core’ members to 2G1C has to have had an effect on them. It wouldn’t surprise me if most those stats came from those members. I don’t foresee this alliance as being anything but cannon fodder for Olympia, Invictus and 2G1C.

2G1C - This is my favourite team of the round to date. Backed by 3 big raiders in Mad Ibrowz, Adairnet and Forsaken they have good potential to churn out some problem armies and the income to quickly churn out defence. Only being around for a couple of weeks they are very new and with average defence points of 300 they have already proven their ability to protect themselves. With only 15 members at the moment they have less villages to cover defence wise, while maintaining a top 3 raided resource amount means they will have offensive numbers to oppose major teams.

win - This team has low simming potential with one of the smallest average populations, and they also have poor stats in both attack and defence. This is another team I will label as NW Cannon fodder.

I was going to do my usual job of reading through, rephrasing and checking stuff was written correctly but I really can't be bothered so you'll have to forgive me for any mistakes.
